Breathing Pentecost

How do you take a picture of the wind?

Yesterday was Pentecost Sunday, the day of the year that the Church celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit – the life-giving breath of God that lives within us.

In honor of Pentecost, take one minute today – just one. (Like some people might take a smoking break, you could take a breathing break.)

Be outside for this minute–pause outside your car, at the bus stop, in your backyard–and breathe.

Breathe in the Spirit, participating fully in the world around you.

Breathe out, letting go of anxieties and control.

Breathe and be:

smelling–the rain, the humidity, the city concrete.

seeing–spring green leaves, a loved one, the variety of faces.

hearing–birds, raindrops, laughter, tears.

touching–temperature, wind, an umbrella, a tiny hand in yours.

Happy Pentecost. The Spirit is always with you.
